Holly Hunter was an American actress, who gained fame for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano earned her an Oscar. The talented actress began her acting career in the theatre by performing in a myriad of Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. When she was a kid, Helen Keller was her favorite character in a 5th grade play. Following a bout of mumps, she became deaf in one of the sides of her ears. However, this was not enough to stop her desire to become an actor. While in college, she studied drama, she moved to New York City with her plans to achieve them. She was introduced to Beth Henley in an elevator and the pair collaborated to make Broadway Crimes of the Heart which was Hunter's debut film. Following her move from Los Angeles she tried to get film roles and bagged the role of a co-star for the role of a supporting character in Swing Shift. Since then, Holly Hunter has been featured in a variety of series and television films. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
